Appearance

  • Women who are rather delicate and highly strung.
  • They are highly timid
  • Men may appear masculine and hard but they are very sensitive and timid inside.

Excitable and sensitive

  • These persons are very excitable and very easily aroused, but the problem is that they do not allow natural outlet for their arousal, very sensitive to slightest mental impressions, least action or harmless words offends.
  • Great indignation about things done by others or by himself, grieves about consequences.

Personality

  • They are very delicate and sensitive nature, very considerate of others
  • She feels her problem belong to her alone and presume to be a burden to others, but if the listener shows sincere interest and sympathy she will quickly opens up.
  • She is never egoistic, harsh or proud.

Suppression of emotion

  • It is the basic pathology of staphisagria.
  • Though she is easily arousable, she will not allow natural outlet for their emotions,
  • She has an internal sense of powerlessness, and the patient feels unable to fight even for her own rights.
  • She quickly learns to submit to any quarrels or imposition.
  • When she is insulted, being too dignified to fight subdued her wrath and will go home sick- she will not fight back..

Disappointments

  • Ailments from grief are always related to romantic relationship
  • They will easily recover from an occupational reversal but they tent to suffer much from a disappointed love.

Timidity

  • They usually do not appear timid in public, in their occupations; parties etc and they are quit friendly. The timidity occurs when they meet someone to whom they feel romantically attracted.
  • They usually develop active fantasy  life, but they fear too much closeness

Relationship

  • They are highly excitable and hence easily aroused in a romantic relationship.
  • She will fancy romantic imaginaries around her relationship, she will think about her lover all day long and she replace in her mind past encounters and future possibilities.
  • Her problem arises when relationship comes to reality; she is more comfortable at a distance.

Too much importance on little things

  • She attaches too much importance to small things like gestures. Eg; when her lover greet her with expected enthusiasm, she become exaggerated out of all proportions to reality.
  • She can be easily satisfied and hurt by small things hence it is very difficult to materialize romanticism; hence many relationships fail to last and experience disappointments.

  • They involve usually in solitary artistic activities like painting music etc
  • They do not indulge in extroverted stage actor or singer

Sexual relationship

  • At first there is great arousal particularly when not actually in the presence of the lover and the arousal is released through masturbation..
  • When ever confronted with actual sexual situation the patient become impotent or frigid.
